Thunder Scientific
Thunder Scientific has been the world’s leading humidity generator manufacturer for more than 50 years. Most National Metrology Institutes and the worlds leading hygrometer manufacturers run Thunder Scientific generators because of their superb precision, stability and reliability.
Thunder Scientific have their manufacturing and calibration facility is located in Albuquerque New Mexico USA adjacent to Kirtland Air Force Base and Sandia National Laboratories. Their team includes experienced metrologists, engineers, and technicians with a combined experience of 75 years in humidity calibration metrology. Their passion for the field ensures a dedication to customer service and high level technical support throughout the products typical 20+ year operating life.
The Thunder Scientific instruments work using the Two-pressure Principle
The two-pressure principle is described as a stream of gas at an elevated pressure and is saturated with respect to the liquid or solid phase of water and then expanded to a lower pressure. Measurements of the pressure and temperature of the saturated gas stream, and in the test chamber after expansion, yields the data necessary to compute the water vapour content of the gas stream. By selecting and maintaining appropriate temperatures and pressures, it is possible to generate any desired level of humidity in the gas stream.
Two-pressure humidity generation entails saturating air or nitrogen with water vapour at a known temperature and pressure. The saturated high-pressure air flows from the saturator and through a pressure-reducing valve, where the gas is isothermally reduced to test pressure at test temperature. Humidity generation does not depend on measuring the amount of water vapour in the air, but instead is dependent only on the measurements of temperature and pressure.
The Qrometric team have almost 30 years experience using and maintaining Thunder Scientific products, so are able to provide local support, service and calibration in the UK and Ireland for the Thunder Scientific 2500.
