Vaisala Dew Point Meters
Vaisala’s dew point meters are designed to measure the moisture content in gases and provide precise humidity measurements across many industrial applications using a proprietary system, based on thin-film polymer technology called DRYCAP.
This explanation of how it works is from Vaisala’s website: The sensor’s thin-film polymer absorbs or releases water vapour as the surrounding humidity increases or decreases. The dielectric properties of the polymer change as the humidity around the sensor changes, as does the capacitance of the sensor. Capacitance is converted into a humidity reading. The capacitive polymer sensor is bonded together with a temperature sensor, and dew point is calculated from the humidity and temperature readings.
The key product line in their dew point sensor range is the MMP series (Moisture Measurement Probe), which offers high-precision measurements for challenging environments. These sensors are used in several critical industrial sectors:
Compressed Air and Gas Industries – Monitor moisture levels in compressed air systems – Prevent condensation and corrosion in pneumatic equipment – Ensure quality control in manufacturing processes – Help maintain optimal operational efficiency of industrial machinery
Power Generation and Energy Sector – Track moisture in turbine and generator cooling systems – Monitor insulation gas conditions in transformers – Prevent moisture-related equipment degradation – Support renewable energy infrastructure maintenance
Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing – Provide ultra-precise humidity measurements in clean room environments – Control moisture during sensitive production processes – Prevent moisture-induced defects in microchip and electronic component manufacturing
Chemical and Pharmaceutical Processing – Monitor moisture levels in chemical reaction vessels – Ensure product quality and consistency – Support precise environmental control in research and production
Food and Beverage Industry – Track moisture in storage and processing environments – Maintain optimal conditions for food preservation – Support quality assurance processes
Vaisala dew point meters are known for their exceptional accuracy, reliability, and durability, often capable of operating in extreme temperatures and harsh industrial conditions. The FPG is the perfect calibration instrument for this range from Vaisala.
