Summer placement student wins first place for poster at ’24 SEPnet Expo.
Over the summer Qrometric hosted a placement SEPnet student.
SEPnet is the South East Physics Network, consisting of Universities in the South East and London collaborating to broaden the horizons of physics and physicists. Our Lab manager Callum Morgan had been part of the SEPnet summer placement program previously and was contacted to see if Qrometric could take part in 2024. We completed the forms, discussed what we were looking to achieve and interviewed the strong field of applicants.
Eleanor O’Callaghan arrived in July and was tasked with evaluating the performance of humidity instruments and working towards a secondary calibration level. Eleanor quickly became part of the team including clearing projects we’d been meaning to do for ages.
As part of the summer placement students are required to produce a project poster for the Annual Students’ Expo held in London the following autumn.
As her supervisor, Callum attended on behalf of Qrometric and was invited to speak as part of a discussion panel on the journey from graduation to workplace. Eleanor was on her stand during the Expo talking to fellow students and guests.
We are delighted to say that Eleanor took first place for her poster! Congratulations Eleanor and best wishes from everyone at Qrometric for the year ahead.
