Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6) is a man made inert gas with very unique and useful properties. It has an very large global warming potential (GWP); 23000 times that of CO2. Its use and control is therefore subject to very strict management regimes.
The performance of SF6 in use depends on its purity meeting quite stringent standards, so routine gas analysis at the point of use is an important requirement for High Voltage equipment manufacturers and users.
